About us

SGA Studio was founded in 2022 as a consultancy providing architectural services based around the experience of its owner, Stephen Govan. It provides design and architectural advice in a number of different fields, including small scale residential, refurbishment, extensions, new-build houses, housing developments, community buildings, retail, industrial, office and leisure developments. Projects range in size and we apply the same 2 basic principles that good design is not a privilege and that every client deserves the best service we can provide.

Graduating from the Mackintosh School of Architecture in 1994, Stephen worked in a number of commercial practices, including several years working abroad in a world heritage site, before returning to the UK where he set up and ran a commercial practice for 18 years. He works on every job and has a direct relationship with the clients, many of whom have worked with him for several years.

As well as working on a number of high profile, award winning projects, Stephen has lectured on various architectural subjects, acted as a tutor for the final Part 3 architectural professional exam and served on the Planning Sub-Committee for the Law Society of Scotland.
