A new house within the a semi-rural setting, designed to sit within the existing landscape and make use of the existing biodiversity.

The house sits within the greenbelt, on the site of a historic dwelling and the footprint is entirely dictated by the shape of the original house. The site has a wealth of existing environmental features and an attempt is made to draw these into the design, with the ground floor designed to open into the landscape to the rear and expand or contract to suit the weather conditions. The formal face of the house reflects a more rural courtyard setting, with containing walls & fences in place but set back and softened. The sketches show the design development.
